When I pulled into Lagoons RV Resort, I expected to spend most of my time enjoying the pool, the clubhouse, and the friendly community — and don’t get me wrong, I did plenty of that. But one of the best surprises about staying here is how close it is to the coast and all the fun that comes with being in a beach town. Days were filled with sun and surf, and the nights? Full of music, laughter, and a little bit of dancing.
Days by the Water
The beaches near Rockport are calm, family-friendly, and full of character. Most mornings I’d pack a cooler, grab my chair, and head out for a few hours in the sand. The Gulf waters are gentle, which makes it perfect for wading, floating, or just cooling off when the Texas sun gets strong.
I tried my hand at fishing off one of the piers — and while I’m no expert angler, I did manage to pull in a couple of keepers. Even when the fish weren’t biting, it was worth it just to sit out over the water and feel the breeze.
For a little adventure, I rented a kayak one afternoon and paddled along the shoreline. The water was smooth, and the views of the coast from just offshore were beautiful. Birdwatchers would have a field day here too — I saw herons and pelicans everywhere.
Sunset Magic
One of my favorite memories was watching the sunset at the beach. The sky lit up in oranges, pinks, and purples, and the reflection over the water was nothing short of stunning. It’s the kind of view that makes you pause, take a deep breath, and remember why you took the trip in the first place.
Nightlife Near the Resort
When the sun went down, the fun didn’t stop. Rockport has a laid-back but lively nightlife scene, and it’s just the right size — enough to keep things interesting, but not overwhelming.
Live Music: A couple of nights I found myself at local bars with live bands playing everything from country to rock. There’s something about hearing music in a beach town that feels extra special — maybe it’s the sea air or the mix of locals and travelers coming together.
Seafood and Drinks: I couldn’t resist heading out for fresh seafood dinners, followed by a cold drink on a patio with string lights overhead. The vibe was relaxed, and it was easy to strike up conversations with fellow travelers and locals alike.
Dancing: One night, I even found myself at a spot with a dance floor. I’m not the best dancer, but it didn’t matter — everyone was just there to have fun.
Back at Lagoons, the evenings were just as enjoyable in their own way. Sometimes I skipped going out altogether, choosing instead to sit outside my RV with neighbors, share stories under the stars, and enjoy the quiet hum of a Texas night.
The Perfect Mix
That’s what made staying at Lagoons so memorable: the balance. I could spend my days soaking up sun on the beach, try something active like kayaking or fishing, and then head out for an evening of good food and live music. Or, if I wanted, I could stay close to the resort and enjoy the friendly community right there.
By the time I left, I realized it wasn’t just a vacation spot — it was a place where you could create whatever kind of trip you wanted. Relaxing, adventurous, social, or peaceful. For me, it was a little bit of all of the above.
