My spouse and I (in our 60s) decided to take a break from our usual routine and try Lagoons RV Resort because we wanted peace, companionship, and mild adventure. We both enjoy quiet, strolls, occasional social activities—but not high energy.
We slept in, then made coffee and sat outside, listening to birds, reading. The grounds are quiet and well maintained, perfect for gentle walks. The concrete pads, good lighting, and even bathhouses made daily living comfortable. (Note: accessibility is generous, and paths are leveled.)
One afternoon, we drove to Goose Island State Park, enjoyed a calm hike, and watched birds along the water. Another day, we visited the Fulton Mansion State Historic Site, strolling through shaded grounds and learning local history.
Back at Lagoons, we took part in one evening dance at the clubhouse (a slow dance night). We met some friendly neighbors, swapped travel stories, and felt part of a welcoming community.
For dinner that evening, I made a baked fish with lemon-herb seasoning, served with steamed vegetables and a light salad. Later, we sat by soft lamp light, listening to distant waves (or wind) and simply enjoying each other’s company.
For seniors: bring comfortable walking shoes, perhaps a folding table/chair for evenings outside, and consider joining resort events (the community is warm and inclusive).
