We booked our week at Lagoons RV Resort with a six-year-old daughter and nine-year-old nephew in tow, and I’ll admit: I half worried they’d get bored. But the resort and surroundings delivered.
Morning: we headed to the heated pool (great even in slightly cooler weather) and let the kids splash, race, and jump in. Meanwhile, the adults sipped coffee under the umbrellas and dipped toes in the shallow ends.
Midday: we made sandwiches and packed them up, then drove the short distance to Rockport Beach Park. The kids built sandcastles, hunted for shells, and paddled in the Gulf’s gentle surf. We also rented a little paddleboat (local vendor) for 30 minutes—and the laughter echoed.
Evening: back at Lagoons, we played games in the clubhouse (there was a billiards table and board games). Then out for local ice cream in town and an easy dinner back at our rig.
One of our favorite memories was cooking dinner together: “make-your-own taco night.” The kids chopped tomatoes and lettuce, mama grilled chicken strips, we set up a taco bar. Quick, fun, no mess.
If you have young children, bring pool toys, sand shovels, maybe a kid’s paddle in case you venture to the beach. The mix of resort amenities and nearby beach makes a kids-friendly vacation easy here.
