There are some places that just feel right the moment you pull in, and Lagoons RV Resort in Rockport, Texas was one of those for me. From the first wave at the check-in office to the moment I set up my site, I knew this wasn’t just another stop along the road — it was a place to slow down, unwind, and actually enjoy being on vacation.

A Resort That Feels Like Home

What struck me first was how clean and well-kept everything was. The RV sites were spacious, with level concrete pads and little touches like picnic tables and grassy patches that made it feel inviting. Once I got set up, I wandered around and found the heated pool (a lifesaver on cooler mornings), a big clubhouse where people were already gathered playing cards, and all kinds of activities from pickleball to shuffleboard.

It’s one of those places that has enough going on to keep you busy if you want to socialize, but it’s just as easy to grab a chair, sit outside your rig, and listen to the breeze in the trees.

The Best Part: The Community

I’ve stayed at plenty of parks where people mostly keep to themselves, but Lagoons had a totally different vibe. Folks came by to say hi while I was setting up, and later that evening I ended up at a potluck dinner where everyone swapped stories, recipes, and travel tips. It was such a warm, welcoming atmosphere — you feel like you belong, even if it’s your very first night.

The Perfect Location

Another reason I loved it here? You’re close to everything. Beaches, fishing piers, local shops, and plenty of seafood restaurants are just a short drive away. Some mornings I’d head out for a walk on the beach, other days I’d hang back by the pool with a book. It’s that perfect mix of relaxation and adventure — do a lot, do a little, or do nothing at all.

Cooking at the Campground

As much as I love exploring restaurants in a new town, I think some of my favorite memories at Lagoons were made right at my campsite with simple, delicious camping meals. Here are a few that became staples during my stay:

Campfire Breakfast Hash

There’s nothing better than waking up to the smell of breakfast cooking outdoors. My go-to was a skillet hash with sausage, diced potatoes, onions, peppers, and eggs cracked right on top. A sprinkle of cheese at the end made it perfect. It filled me up for a full day of beachcombing or lounging by the pool.

Shrimp Foil Packets

Being so close to the coast, I couldn’t resist picking up some fresh shrimp. I tossed them into foil packets with zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and a squeeze of lemon, then cooked them over the grill. Ten minutes later I had a fresh, light dinner that tasted like summer by the water.

S’mores Banana Boats

Even though there was plenty of adult fun to be had, I couldn’t skip a kid-at-heart treat. I slit a banana lengthwise, stuffed it with chocolate and marshmallows, wrapped it in foil, and let it melt together over the fire. Gooey, sweet, and messy — exactly what camping desserts should be.

One-Pot Chili Mac

For those nights when I wanted something hearty after a long day out, I made a simple chili mac. Ground beef, tomatoes, beans, pasta, and spices all cooked in one pot — easy cleanup and plenty of leftovers for the next day.

Why I’ll Be Back

What made Lagoons stand out to me was the balance. It had the comforts of a resort, the friendliness of a neighborhood, and the freedom of camping. I left feeling rested, connected, and already planning my return trip.

If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a place to park your RV — a place where you can make friends, eat well, and soak in the Gulf Coast lifestyle — I can’t recommend Lagoons RV Resort enough.
